require用法
require 是及物动词，意思是"需求，要求"。常用下列句型结构：
1) 接名词作宾语。例如：
This job requires strength.这份工作需要体力。
Your presence is urgently required.你务必到场。
2)接不定式作宾语补足语。例如：
They required us to help them. 他们要求我们帮助他们。
He was required to leave.他被要求离开。
3)接that从句(从句谓语动词should+动词原形，其中should可省略)。例如：
She required that I(should)go at once.她要求我立刻去。
The situation requires that immediate action(should)be taken.情势上需要立即采取行动
4)接动名词主动式或不定式被动式。例如：
These temples require repairing next month . = These temples require to be repaired next month. 这些庙宇下个月需要修缮。
例如：
I will do what is required of me.凡是要求我做的事，我都会办到。
He required more help from me.他要求我提供更多的帮助。

demand与 require的用法辨析
1) 有时可互换。例如：
They demand [require] my appearance. 他们要求我到场。
2) 两者的细微区别是：demand 通常指坚持其应该有或必要的东西，暗示要求者权这样做，常有命令之意;require 通常指按照法律、规章、规定、惯例、环境等提出要求，其客观性较强。例如：
The policeman demanded his name and address. 警察要他说出他的名字和地址。
We require warm clothing for the winter. 我们需要过冬的暖和的衣服。
3) demand 后可接不定式，但不接动名词;而require表示“要求”时，其后既不接不定式也不接动名词。例如：
She demanded to see the manager. 她要求见经理。
He demanded to be told everything. 他要求把一切都告诉他。
【注意】：require 表示“需要”时，其后可接动名词(用主动表被动)或不定式(用被动形式表被动)。例如：
The room requires cleaning [to be cleaned]. 房间需要打扫了。
4) demand 不接不定式的复合结构，但 require 后可接不定式的复合结构。例如：They required him to keep it a secret. 他们要求他对这事保密。
All the members are required to attend the meeting. 全部会员均要求出席会议。
【注意】：demand 后不接不定式的复合结构，但 demand of 后可接不定式的复合结构。例如：
They demanded of her to go with them. 他们要求她同他们一起去。
require的用法：
require在英语中作为动词一般有以下4中用法
（1） require sth需要，依靠
These pets require a lot of care and attention。
这些宠物需要悉心照顾。
（2） require sb to do sth要求某人做某事
At the beginning of the new term，all students will be required to take a short test。
在新学期的开始，所有学生都要参加一次小测试。
（3） require doing sth需要做某事
This book is required reading for this course。
这本书是这本课程的指定读物。
（4） require that +从句需要，要求
在require引导的宾语从句中，谓语动词用“should +动词原形”，should可省略。
The situation required that he （should） be present。
这种情形需要他在场。
