2016考研英语核心词汇复习

　　单词的背诵一定要贯穿2016考研复习的整个周期，否则无论是阅读的复习还是翻译的复习，都会遇到困难。同时，单词记忆不能只记中文释义，要掌握其常见用法、固定搭配，并且在能力范围内利用词根触类旁通。考研对于词汇的考查主要体现在考生“同义替换”的能力上，也就是考查考生对于语言多样性的把握，所以考生在背单词的时候一定要掌握单词的同义词。

2016考研英语核心词汇复习

　　wedge

　　n.楔，楔形 v.楔牢，楔入，挤进

　　【例】His divisive politics drove a wedge into the organization.他的分离政策导致了该组织的分裂。

　　【真题】Robert Fulton once wrote,“The mechanic should sit down among levers, screws, wedges, wheels, etc., like a poet among the letters of the alphabet, considering them as an exhibition of his thoughts, in which a new arrangement transmits a new idea.”

　　Robert Fulton曾写道：“技术人员坐在杠杆、螺钉、楔子、轮子等中间，如同一位诗人处在字母之中，把它们看作自己思想的一种表达，每一个新的组合都能传达一个新的理念。”

　　random

　　a.随机的，随意的 n.随机，随意

　　【例】The magician chose a random volunteer from the audience.魔术师从观众中随机挑选了一名志愿者。

　　【构词】ran(跑)+-dom(领域)→可以在各领域跑的→随意的

　　【同义替换】arbitrary

　　【派生】randomly ad.随机地，随意地

　　【真题】In theory, the success of an applicant should not depend on the few others chosen randomly for interview during the same day, but Dr. Simonsohn suspected the truth was otherwise.

　　理论上，一个申请人的成功不应该取决于另外的几个随机选取的在同一天参加面试的申请人，但是西蒙逊博士却怀疑事实并非如此。

　　latitude

　　n.纬度;行动或言论的自由(范围);(pl.)地区

　　【例】The information can be used to determine the longitude and latitude at any point on the earth’s surface.这些消息可以用来测定地球表面上人意一点点经纬度。

　　【真题】The test of any democratic society lies not in how well it can control expression but in whether it gives freedom of thought and expression the widest possible latitude, however disputable or irritating the results may sometimes be.

　　检验任何民主社会的标准不是看它如何严厉地控制思想的表达，而是看它是否给人以最大限度的思想自由和表达思想的自由，无论产生的效果有时可能是多么有争议性或令人恼火。

　　celebrity

　　n.名人，名流;名声，名望

　　【例】The downside of my celebrity is that I cannot go anywhere in the world without being recognized.

　　【构词】celebr(著名)+-ity→著名;知名人士

　　【同义替换】personality, reputation, fame

　　a.肥沃的'，富饶的;能繁殖的

　　【例】Tilapias are very fertile, and reproduce several offspring every.罗非鱼生殖能力很强，一年能够繁殖数代。

　　【同义替换】fruitful, abundant, productive, rich

　　【派生】fertility n.肥沃;多产;丰富

　　【真题】Few people are as fertile as in the past. Except in some religious communities, very few women have 15 children.

　　现在没有几个人想过去那样具有旺盛的生育力了。除了一些宗教社区之外，没有几名妇女有15个孩子。

　　glamour

　　n.魅力;魔法 v.迷惑

　　【例】Hollywood suggests glamour, a place where the young teenagers could, with a bit of luck, fulfill their dreams.好莱坞意味着魅力。如果走运的话，小青年们可以在那里实现他们的梦想。

　　【同义替换】charm, attraction

　　【派生】glamorous a.富有魅力的，迷人的

　　【真题】It’s hard to imagine that many people are dumb enough to want children just because Reese and Angelina make it look so glamorous: most adults understand that a baby is not a haircut.
