一、学习动机是否明确

二、是否有财务能力支付全部费用
美国签证 官还需要考察学生的财务状况。即学生是否有足够的资金来支持美国留学，而不会非法打工或给美国社会带来负担。
由于美国使馆没有关于学生所需留学担保金的具体规定，一般来说留学生需要准备至少一年的留学资金，并且有持续资金的支持才可以。对于中国学生来说，资金问题是阻碍大多数留美学生的主要因素。

三、是否有能力在美国完成学业
学生具备足够的学习能力是签证官考察的另外一个重要因素。
在申请美国留学的时候，在学校的材料清单里面会有一个DCF表格，学校要求这个的原因是需要证明学生有能力完成学业，是来这里学习的，而不是以留学的名义来做其他的事情。
即便学生有足够的资金支持，而且有很强的学习欲望，但是如果学生的个人学习能力达不到一定的程度，签证官还是不会给学生发放签证。美国留学签证官通过考察学生的语言成绩、在国内的学习成绩以及美国大学所选专业类别等来决定学生是否有能力完成学业。

四、学生毕业后能否能按期回国
签证官最后一个考察因素就是学生是否有移民倾向，是否毕业后能够按期回国。
一般人会误以为在面试中表示出对美国的不屑或说明自己是独生子女就能够排除移民倾向。其实不然，美国签证官在这方面的判断主要考察学生在国内的社会地位、家庭状况和社会关系等，以及学生留学期间所选择的专业。换句话说，如果学生在美国的状况不是很理想，那么学生就会考虑回到国内发展，而不会选择继续呆在美国艰难地寻求发展，这是签证官最希望看到的。
学生在自我介绍的时候要把自身和家庭情况详细表述，签证官更希望看到学生在国内的社会地位和社会关系能够成为连接中美关系的纽带。一般说来，申请美国商科专业的学生更容易获得美国签证，这是因为申请商科的学生家庭一般经济状况较好，另外根据以往的经验，商科的学生更倾向于回国发展。
