both的用法
英语中, both 的用法比较复杂，它既可用作代词，又可用作形容词。为帮助同学们准确掌握其用法，现归纳如下：
一、both用作代词，意为“两者”、“双方”。
1.在句子中作主语或宾语，可单独使用或用于“both of...”结构中，但当of后面是名词时，名词前面必须有the、one’s等限定词。另外，当其作主语时，谓语动词必须用复数。如：
Both are good. 两个都挺好。
Why not use both? 为什么不两者都用?
Both of them have gone out. 他们俩都外出了。
Both of the men are asleep. 那两个男人都睡着了。
Of course, I wish both of your children well. 当然，我祝福你的两个孩子都健康。
2.用作主语的同位语。其位置主要有三种情况：①放在实义(行为)动词之前;②放在情态动词、助动词之后;③放在连系动词be之后。如：
We are both students. 我们俩都是学生。
Don’t thank me. You must both thank him! 别谢我。你们俩必须感谢他!
We have both passed the mid-examination. 我们俩都通过了期中考试。
在简略回答及感叹句中，both不能位于句尾，要放在连系动词be、助动词或情态动词之前。如：
—Are you ready?你们准备好了吗?
—Yes, we both are. 是的，我们俩都准备好了(不能说Yes, we are both)。
How clever they both are!他们俩多聪明啊!
3.用作宾语同位语。这时，both要紧跟在宾语之后。如：
You may take them both. 你可以把两个都拿去。
He likes Tom and Wang Hai both. 汤姆和王海两个他都喜欢。
二、both用作形容词，意为“两者的”、“双方的”。
both作形容词用时，是一个首位限定词，它必须放在其他限定词或修饰词之前。如：
There are lots of trees on both sides of the road. 公路两旁都有很多树。
Please hold both my hands in yours. 请握住我的双手。
Both children are my sons. 两个孩子都是我的儿子。
both作形容词修饰复数名词时，意义上与either修饰单数名词是一样的。如：
Both films are interesting. 两部电影都很有趣。
Either film is interesting. 两部(中的任何一部)电影都很有趣。
三、用作代词或形容词的'both与not连用时，表示部分否定，意为“两者不都”。如：
Both her sisters are not in Shanghai(=Not both her sisters are in Shanghai).她的两个妹妹并不都在上海。
I won’t take both, please. 两个我不全都要。
Not both books are helpful. 两本书并不都是有益处的。
四、“both...and”只用于肯定句，否定句要用“neither...nor”。如：
Both you and I know this. 你和我都知道这事。
Neither you nor I know this. 你和我都不知道这事。
He can speak both English and French. 他既能讲英语，又能讲法语。
He can speak neither English nor French.他既不会讲英语，也不会讲法语。
both,all的区别和用法
all ,both,表示“都”,“全部”.
(1) both指两个人或物,而all指三个以上的人或物,在句中都可作主语、宾语、表语、同位语或定语.
Both of us want to go.我们两人都想去.
All of us should work hard.我们都应努力工作.
(2) both和all都可直接修饰名词;名词前如有限定词时,其前只能用both of或all of.
Both brothers are clever.兄弟俩都聪明.
Both of the books are useful.两本书都有用.
(3) both和all在句中的位置是位于be动词之后,行为动词之前,如有情态动词或助动词,则位于情态动词或助动词与主动词之间.
We are all here.我们都来了.

(1) both的反义词是neither,all的反义词是none.
Both of us are not doctors.我们俩并非都是医生.(部分否定)
Neither of us is a doctor.我们俩都不是医生.(全部否定)
All of the books are not helpful.并非所有这些书都对人有帮助.(部分否定)
