　　“以诚动人”：在科学史上，法拉弟之所以能成为名震全球的科学家，就得益于截维写的别具一格的“求职信”。戴维(1788-1829)是十九世纪英国著名的化学家，二十三岁便被聘为英国皇家学会主讲。法拉弟(1791-1867)原来是一个学徒，每天默默无闻地做订书工作。但他有志于科学，特别崇拜戴维，他渴望能当戴维的助手，为了求得戴维指教。1813年法拉弟冒昧地给戴维写了一封信，寄了自己认认真真整理好的自己亲自去旁听的戴维讲演记录，表示自己对科学的热心以及求师的诚意。他当时只想碰碰运气。谁知，戴维很快回了信，并约法拉弟面谈。因为戴维看到法拉弟的自荐信和有独特见解的讲演记录，看出这个青年徒工是个很有前途的科技新苗，而且被他的诚意所感动。见面后，戴维毅然决定请法拉弟做看书的助手，安排在皇家学院实验室工作。就这样，在戴维的帮助下，法拉弟终于成了伟大的科学家，当上了英国皇家学会会员。
