　　授予动词

　　此类动词为及物动词的一种，需接两个宾语。第一个宾语叫间接宾语(indirect object简称i.o.)表授予的对象;第二个宾语叫直接宾语(direct object简称d.o.),表授予的东西。

　　例：i will give you this watch.

　　(我要送你这只表。)

　　please lend me your book.

　　(请把你的书借我。)

　　i bought him a car.

　　(我给他买了辆车。)

　　i asked him a question.

　　(我问了他一个问题。)

　　以上结构中，you,me,him均为间接宾语，this watch,your book,a car,a question均为直接宾语，然而同学们一定会问，为何要做如此分类呢?拿第一句来说吧，中译为：“我要送你这只手表。”说这句话的人，手中一定先拿着表，然后再送给对方。故this watch先被接触，称为直接宾语，而you后被接触，称为间接宾语。

　　我们再以第四句加以说明。本句中译成为：“我问他一个问题。”我们想一想：与“我”先接触的是“问题”，因为“我”一张口，“问题”就借着声音跑了出来，然后才传达给“他”。故a question为直接宾语，而him则为间接宾语。

　　与of并用的授予动词

　　下列动词也可与of并用，但是与上述不同的是of之后是以表“东西”的名词为宾语，而非以表“对象”的名词为宾语，同学务必牢记。

　　1.rob抢夺

　　例：he robbed my money.(x)

　　----he robbed me of my money.(o)

　　(他抢了我的钱。)

　　i was robbed of my money.(o)

　　-----my money was robbed.(x)

　　(我的钱被抢了。)

　　2.deprive/strip剥夺

　　例：the regime deprived/stripped all his civil rights.(x)

　　-----the regime deprived/stripped him of all his civil rights.(o)

　　(该政权剥夺了他一切公民权。)

　　he was deprived/stripped of all his civil rights.(o)

　　-----all his civil rights were deprived/stripped.(x)

　　(他被剥夺了一切公民权。)

　　3.ease减轻

　　例：he eased me of my burden.

　　(他减轻了我的负担。)

　　4.relieve解除

　　例：the medicine relieved him of his pain.

　　(这个药解除了他的痛苦。)

　　5.rid解除

　　例：i cannot rid myself of the painful memory.

　　=i cannot get rid of the painful memory.

　　(我不能去除掉这段痛苦的回忆。)

　　注意

　　rid myself of中的rid是动词原形;get rid of中的rid是过去分词，get则等于be,即：cannot get rid of=cannot be rid of，然而get rid of已成词组，故写作时， 不可用be rid of取代。

　　6.break戒除

　　例：you should break/rid yourself of the bad habit of smoking.

　　(你应该戒除你抽烟的恶习。)

　　7.cure医治

　　例：the doctor cured him of his disease.

　　(医生治好了他的病。)
